Connor Sloman
Connor Sloman started his Farrier career in 2001 when he began working and apprenticing under his father, a highly skilled and experienced farrier. Connor's passion and dedication to the craft were evident from the very beginning, as he learned the ropes and honed his skills under his father's guidance. As the years went by, Connor's expertise grew, and he eventually took on the leadership responsibilities of running Equiterra.
Despite taking over the business, Connor never stopped learning and seeking ways to improve his knowledge and techniques. He recognized the importance of staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in the field of horseshoeing, as it would enable him to provide exceptional care for his clients' beloved horses. That's why he became a member of prestigious organizations such as the International Association of Professional Farriers (IAPF), Western Canadian Farriers Association (WCFA), American Farrier's Association (AFA), and National Alliance of Equine Practitioners (NAEP).
Connor's commitment to ongoing education is reflected in his attendance at various conferences and summits dedicated to the art and science of hoof care. In 2019, 2020 and 2023, he had the opportunity to participate in the highly regarded American Farriers Journal’s annual International Hoof Care Summit in Cincinnati, Ohio. This prestigious event not only exposed him to cutting-edge research and practices but also provided a platform for networking with fellow farriers, veterinarians, and industry experts.
One noteworthy achievement for Connor was being invited, alongside Lance, to participate in the AFJ 2020 Hunter/Jumper Performance Horse Hoof-Care Classroom. This particular event allowed him to showcase his expertise and interact with professionals in the specialized field of hunter/jumper performance horses.
Connor's journey as a farrier has been defined by his commitment to continuous improvement and providing exceptional care to his clients' horses. Whether he is working on a competitive jumper or a beloved companion, Connor's unwavering dedication and vast experience make him an invaluable asset to the Equiterra team.
Ashley Sloman
My love for horses began at the tender age of 4 while growing up in the bustling city of Toronto, Ontario. From there, my passion for these majestic creatures only grew stronger as I found myself immersed in the world of equestrian sports. As I rode hunters in Ontario, I honed my skills and deepened my understanding of horsemanship under the guidance of esteemed horse trainer Bill Calder.
Throughout my journey, I developed a keen focus on the art of trimming horses. Recognizing that a well-trimmed horse is not only aesthetically pleasing but also crucial for their overall health and performance, I dedicated myself to mastering this intricate craft. With each precise snip and careful adjustment, I strive to ensure that every horse under my care displays the utmost comfort, balance, and grace.
In the realm of equine excellence, I find solace and fulfillment. The bond forged between horse and rider is one that transcends words, and through my dedication to trimming and caring for these magnificent creatures, I am able to contribute to their well-being and enhance their innate beauty. From Toronto to Kentucky and beyond, my journey with horses continues to shape and inspire me, fueling my unwavering passion day after day.
